Stills
JPG, PNG and WEBP. Give us decent resolution and an unobstructed face — a small thumbnail has very little for the engine to read.
Video
MP4 and MOV, encoded as H.264 or H.265.
Length and file-size caps depend on your plan, and the upload screen shows yours before you choose a file. Longer clips sit higher up the tiers.
When a file is refused
Re-export it as plain MP4 (H.264), or JPG or PNG for a still. That clears almost every rejection, and it's quicker than working out which exotic codec setting caused it. If the upload itself is what's failing rather than the file type, this is the list to work through.
